Opotiki Big 3

The Opotiki Big 3 has been running since 1992 and has attracted keen bushman and bushladies. The aim of this event is to catch the heaviest Stag or Boar, Snapper and Pheasant with the longest tail. Points are awarded by weight and by number of bars on the pheasant’s tail. The highest combined tally scores the team a major prize from event sponsors.

All funds raised from all Big 3 competitions are donated to a local group that to date have all included children’s charities.
