Mataatua Open Hunting Competition

This is a pig hunting competition with a difference. Aimed at getting iwi active with a traditional past time of pig hunting for the adults, and possuming to involve the tamariki. Due to popular demand this competition is also now open to the general public, so all you pig hunters grab an entry form and be in to win.

The Mataatua Iwi Challenge Pig Hunting Competition is the first event in the fun filled itinerary of the Mataautua Iwi Challenge. The Iwi Challenge aims to get whanau active by generating a bit of friendly competition in 14 different events. Entrants into the Pig Hunting Competition automatically earn participation points for their nominated iwi, additional points are awarded to participants for placings of merit within the competition. An award will be given to the iwi that scores the highest combined total for the pig hunting competition. Points will also contribute to the greater Mataatua Iwi Chaalenge where eventually the winning iwi will be crowned.  

Some great prizes will be on offer thanks to the generous sponsorship from a number of local businesses. Spot prizes will be on offer also for those who aren't lucky enough to bring home the bacon.
